We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 3 Therapy Assistant to join our friendly, dedicated and dynamic Inpatient Therapy team!

The successful candidate will be working in rehabilitation alongside physiotherapy and occupational therapy. We treat people with a wide range of conditions including orthopaedics, frailty and neurology, and our service is continually developing and improving to meet the needs of our patients.

Main duties of the job

This post is part time, 20 hours per week. The base is Crawley Hospital and the post holder will occasionally be expected to work at the other site. The service covers two hospitals/Intermediate Care Units (ICUs); Horizon Unit and Crawley Hospital. The service currently covers five days a week but there will be the introduction of 7 day working in the future.

    Detailed job description and main responsibilities
    As a member of the team you will have the opportunity to receive support from other therapy colleagues, receive clinical supervision from registered therapists, participate in the in-service learning programme, develop your practice, relevant to the team, participate in competency development through the Calderdale Framework, support development of other staff outside of your professional group, assist in supporting service development and shaping the future clinical practice of the therapy team.

    We are looking for someone who likes working with people and is reliable, flexible and adaptable in their work. Previous experience as a Therapy Assistant or similar is desirable, and applicants should have experience of delivering care and/or rehabilitation to older people with various needs.

    Our ideal candidate will enjoy problem solving, have excellent communication skills, and want to work on the wards within a supportive multidisciplinary team, helping to implement timely and person-centred assessments and rehabilitation. Full driving licence and access to a car for work are desirable.

    Qualifications
    Essential criteria

  • Be able to demonstrate good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Relevant theoretical and practical training to NVQ III level or equivalent
  • Related academic qualifications
  • Desirable criteria

  • Up to date personal portfolio of learning and development
  • Experience
    Essential criteria

  • Administration duties such as filling, photocopying, record keeping and data entry
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working as an Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy Assistant or other relevant
  • At least 1 years’s experience NHS health or social care experience
  • Knowledge of roles of other members of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of working part of a team
  • Desirable criteria

  • Signed competencies in areas relevant to the post
  • Experience of caring for patients in a community healthcare setting
