IT Network and tools monitoring engineer

Task Description

* Responsible for operational BAU for Network & Monitoring Platforms

* Maintain, patch, OS and keep the platform up to date and in good health, understanding and navigating through the platform

* Work with other teams to enhance and extend monitoring, create dashboards and alerting per demand

* Troubleshoot and resolve issues with responsibility for the resolution through 2nd & 3rd line support for all Network Tools Platforms & related issues.

* Produce and maintain operations manuals/run books for the associated services for this team in line with corporate standards.

* Identifies and acts upon opportunities for continuous improvement to reduce operational risks, optimise efficiency and improve standards.

* Provides feedback to architecture team on product road maps.

* Identifies and tracks operational needs and risks with network tools.

Required working experience (in years)

Experience:

* Troubleshooting, Diagnostics & Event Log/Management

* Previous experience working with SolarWinds Platform (NAM, SAM, VMAN, SRM) and Kiwi syslog

* Monitoring protocols and principles (WMI, SNMP, WinRM, Polling vs Event-based monitoring etc.)

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, flexible and a proactive team player.

* Technical expertise within a service and technical environment with a demanding, fast-paced environment

Must have

Essential Skills:

* Experience with operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc)

* Experience installing and configuring similar Network Monitoring Platforms: (examples below)

. SolarWinds Orion

* Aruba Clearpass

* Aruba Central

* Proficient with Network and Application Management protocols such as SNMP, SNMP Traps, Syslog, ICMP, WMI, Netflow

* Technical knowledge across a wide range of platforms

Nice to have

Desirable Skills (not essential)

* Riverbed

. Fortinet Manager

* Working knowledge of LAN/WAN configurations, Switches, Routers and security appliances

* Experience of delivering technical training to users

* Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Comptia+, MCSE

* Network administration and troubleshooting skills (DHCP/Static, TCP/IP, DNS)

* Scripting/programming knowledge in PowerShell, Perl, Python or similar

* SQL query knowledge including joins and data functions
