Role Overview:
A Lead Engineer (Applications Operations) is required to lead a team of Application and Development engineers delivering applications Platform as a Service (PAAS) and Software as a Service (Service) solutions. The role will take ownership of the maintenance, delivery and development of existing and new applications. This will include ensuring all key documentation is in place and maintained.
The role will involve day-to-day management of PaaS & SaaS support services in accordance with SLAs, resolving incidents/problems which have been escalated from within the Client’sService Desk. The role will be required to ensure appropriate resources are allocated for call resolution and you will lead the PaaS and SaaS Teams to provide high quality performance to customers and end-users. Involved heavily in the design and management of new application service designs and customer bids.
An aspect of the role is to act as the point of contact for the PaaS/SaaS team and application products in relevant operational, project and customer meetings. The role will therefore act as the escalation point for the Service Desk.
The role is expected to take ownership of an escalated issue and have technical oversight of investigations, diagnosis and resolution or recovery of the issue. This may including planning the resolution/requirement with SME’s. It is essential that the role has an eye for detail and is able to identify what technical information is required to assist them in progressing an operational or project requirements.
There is a requirement for the role to be involved in the Acceptance Into Service (AIS) process. This will involve close working with the Transition team and project teams to identify what is required for the Live Service to bring a new product into full support.
This role will include product ownership for some services.
Essential skills/experience required:
Technical Background:
Provide leadership and management to a team of applications and developer SME’s.
Experience of leading a PaaS/SaS/DevOps team’s in a complex highly available secure enterprise environment.

Managing Bespoke built applications
Delivery of Application management in an enterprise environment
Management of Application Services in an Virtual environment
Knowledge of Application Load balancing
Application Management and Reporting
Knowledge of development languages
Experience in working within a secure environment understanding security requirements.
To possess experience in supporting Applications in an ITIL3/4 environment, such as release/deployment to production, problem and change management.
The ability to take a complex problem and drive through to the end goal.
Strong analytical ability where troubleshooting scripted on-boarding processes.
The ability to create and support Operational Process documentation.
Desirable:
Demonstrable experience of leading an application Support and Development Team
Demonstrable experience of working within an Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL v3/4) support environment.
Knowledge of IT Service Management toolsets ie Service Now
Experience working within VMware environments.
Experience working within cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
Experience of WordPress.
