The Company:
West Yorkshire Police is looking to appoint a permanent Facial Imaging Officer to provide effective and efficient support to Regional Scientific Support Services. You will interview witnesses/victims throughout the Yorkshire and Humber region, in order to produce composite facial images.
What you’ll need?
Has working knowledge of and ability to operate computerised databases and professional computerised imaging packages
Has evidence of Free hand Artwork skills, preferably portraiture based
Previous experience to demonstrate a patient, confident understanding approach to vulnerable, confused or obstructive individuals
Due to the nature of this role you must be able to provide Biometric samples (fingerprints and DNA) for inclusion on the respective Police Elimination Databases for routine speculative searching purposes
Desirably have the ability to prepare and present evidence for Court proceedings
Desirably have basic knowledge of cognitive interview techniques.
Have a full current UK/European driving licence
Have the willingness to participate in a 7 day shift rota
Ability and willingness to work from home or locations throughout the region
Have access to own transport and willingness to travel throughout the Yorkshire and Humber region
Ability to view imagery which can be graphic and disturbing
Ability to deal with distressed victims as part of the cognitive interview process
You will also be required to produce artist’s impressions, age progression, Body Mapping and anatomical Illustrations, for use by Investigating Officers in criminal investigation.
This role is based at Calder Park, Wakefield, with the opportunity for some agile working.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Regional Scientific Support Imaging Unit, dealing with around 800 requests per year for the Yorkshire and Humber Regions.
