We are seeking a specialist clinical pharmacist to join the mental health team delivering pharmacy services to the Royal Edinburgh and Associated Services Division. The post holder will lead on delivery of a high-quality clinical pharmacy service to community mental health teams within the City of Edinburgh and support delivery of clinical pharmacy service to inpatient older peoples mental health services.

This is an exciting time to be joining Mental Health Pharmacy in Scotland. Following new investment from the Scottish Government, NHS Lothian service are developing new roles and planning for significant service redesign, with significant investment into community mental health services planned over the next three years. This post will be key to supporting the development of the service.

Key areas for patient focused care include provision of pharmaceutical care to vulnerable patients, medication history reviews, provision of a medicines information service, maintenance of a high-dose antipsychotic monitoring system, monitoring adherence to the Mental Health Act, patient/carer education. The successful provision of this service relies on multidisciplinary working and development of close links with other members of the pharmacy team across NHS Lothian

The post holder will ideally be an independent prescriber or willing to work towards this qualification. There is potential opportunity, following training and support, to work within adult services community ADHD clinics. The post holder will be employed within NHS Lothian and there may be a requirement to work flexibly across Lothian to meet service demands.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
