Finance Analyst working in the C&C Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team, providing accurate financial and commercial analysis in respect of operating performance and spend to support management with business performance improvement.

The role is based at the Nottingham Shared Service Centre (SSC) and the group is able to offer some hybrid working. Occasional travel to other national offices will be required to meet business needs. 

Relationships:

  • Reporting to the Head of FP&A and working cross divisionally alongside 3 Finance Business Partners (FBPs).
  • Partner with financial accounts team to build accurate on-time business reporting and analysis.
  • An active member of the Group Financial Planning & Analysis team.
  • Support Head of FP&A, CFO and COO on ad-hoc strategic projects, opportunities or initiatives.
  • Provide financial analysis support to the FBPs and wider management team.
  • Preparation of monthly business finance reports (including actual and vs budget performance review). Support FBPs with preparation of summaries and narrative explaining key variances.
  • Financial analysis of profitability of branches and contracts.
  • Owning, maintaining and developing accurate divisional KPI reporting.
  • Undertake detailed analysis to support management in understanding variances between actual and budget performance.
  • Taking a lead role in preparing key analysis as part of the annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting process.
  • Supporting FBPs with keeping forecast models up to date.
  • Continuous improvement to budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
  • Collaborating across finance teams to deliver business outcomes together.
  • Using multiple systems and applications relevant to the required outputs of the role (e.g. Access Dimensions, People Planner, Microsoft Office.

Key Duties/responsibilities 

Person specification

  • Experience with working in a finance analyst role.
  • Highly analytical with financial awareness.
  • Strong attention to detail, able to sport errors and deep dive on queries.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Experience in report building and data analytics. Experience with SQL/Alteryx would be advantageous.
  • Able to define and Key Performance Indicator definitions from a business perspective and aid in defining these from a data perspective.
  • Understanding of price/volume/mix variance analysis.
  • Functional knowledge of accounting principles (e.g. P&L, budget & forecast etc.)
  • Knowledge of BI reporting platforms and data presentation advantageous.
  • Experience in data transition/mapping type of projects
  • Qualified or working towards relevant qualification.
  • Experience of either healthcare or working with public sector commissionaires would be advantageous
