About our Team

Our Web Presence team are rebuilding elsevier.com from the ground-up, we look after the core content delivery, journeys and platform. We collaborate with multiple business units to help them support the various personas and customers using our websites. We ship numerous applications multiple times a day, employing a continuous deployment strategy, utilising mono-repos, automated tests and monitoring.

About the Role

You will develop a best-in-class platform for serving product and content to millions of users every month. You’ll oversee front-end delivery through managing and maintaining our design systems and working with developers to ensure best-practice and accessibility. You will collaborate with our UX teams and business to advise on designs that will put customers first.

Responsibilities

• Working collaboratively in an agile product delivery team and having discussions on project planning with stakeholders to align business objectives

• Improving our code, processes and team performance by promoting industry best-practices and learning new technologies to encourage continuous improvement

• Design system stewardship

• Overseeing feature delivery and overall platform direction and health

• Implementing new features, refactoring and maintaining existing software to develop a best-in-breed, inner-sourced platform for serving products and content

Requirements

• Have Software Engineering background and experience using JavaScript or Typescript

• Demonstrate experience in web development

• Have excellent written, verbal and presentation skills and can explain complex technical content to a range of audiences

• Enjoy collaborating with UX engineers to deliver successful projects and solve problems through innovation

• Be able to mentor software developers on front-end and general software development techniques
