Your new company

You will be working for HMP Bristol. It is located in the Horfield/Bishopston area and is a category B prison. There is a rough capacity of 500 inmates in HMP Bristol split across 5 main wings.

Your new role

You will be working within the kitchen at HMP Bristol, overseeing prisoners whilst they prepare and cook meals for other inmates, members of staff, events etc. There will be 20 inmates working within the kitchen at any one time and 4-5 other members of staff helping oversee them.

Some other duties may include:
– Providing training to prisoners who are studying towards a relevant qualification
– Preparing food and cooking food
– Stock control
– Making sure prisoners are working safely and efficiently
– Checking hygiene and contributing to the review of catering standards

This role is a Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm.Every 3 weeks you will be required to work 1 Saturday shift. The pay rate is at £11.50 per hour

(please note that all pay rates are PAYE and are inclusive of holiday pay)

What you’ll need to succeed

You must have :

  • NVQ Level 2 certificate in Food production within Hospitality and Catering or equivalent
  • Food Hygiene Certificate at Level 2
  • At least 2 years plus experience in a large kitchen/ catering environment and provide support and training to the prisoners where necessary.
  • All candidates are subject to 2 satisfactory references and full prison clearance.
