We have an opportunity for a self-motivated dynamic Dietitian with excellent prioritisation and organisational skills to gain experience in a fast paced environment with support from our friendly yet innovative and proactive service. The dietetic team sits within a busy acute therapy service team comprising of physiotherapists, OT, speech and language therapists and therapy assistants.

Homerton therapy services offers treatment to patients across the acute and community setting within inner east London. The wider dietetic team consists of 30 Dietitians, which offers services including Bariatrics, Paediatrics and Community Dietetic. Inner east London is a vibrant, diverse and exciting place to work.

Main duties of the job

You should be experienced or keen and ready to upskill to the Acute environment and be a competent practitioner with an interest and passion in complex nutrition support, surgery and gastroenterology. Experience in parenteral nutrition would be an advantage. 

The role includes both inpatient and outpatient work, including a gastroenterology and FODMAP clinic. The role offers a rotation between Surgery and Gastroenterology. Within these rotations you will be responsible for delivering high quality evidence based dietetic care to patients in gastroenterology, surgery and critical care. There will also be the opportunity to participate in Weekly Nutrition Support Team meetings alongside the Highly Specialist Dietitians, Pharmacist and Gastroenterologist. You will be responsible for the supervision and daily support of a band 5 Dietitian.

As the successful candidate you will possess excellent clinical reasoning skills, a balance of empathy and emotional resilience and advanced communication skills. We are committed to work-based education and training to improve clinical skills and we actively encourage CPD and audit. You will take an active part in training students, nurse preceptorship and the FY1/FY2 training programme.

Essential criteria

  • HCPC registered
  • BSC Nutrition & Dietetics or relevant postgraduate qualification
  • Desirable criteria

  • Member of relevant specialist interest groups e.g. BAPEN / PENG
