Job summary

  • To deal with the collection and enforcement activity in relation to Council Tax on behalf of the organisation and its residents in order to provide a first class customer service in accordance with legislation, local policies and strategies.
  • To ensure that the Council’s published customer service performance standards are achieved in all areas of the post holders’ responsibility.
  • To undertake all duties in accordance with statutory requirements, standing orders, financial regulations and the scheme of delegation.
  • To deal with the collection and enforcement activity in relation to (but not limited to) Council Tax, Business Rates, Sundry Debtors, Parking, overpaid Housing Benefits and Housing Options Rent on behalf of its residents and business community in order to provide a first class customer service in accordance with legislation, local policies and strategies.
  • To meet agreed outcome-based performance and accuracy targets and to provide a quality service with a high level of customer care.
  • To assist with the technical assessment of complex issues and enquiries relating to all streams of income to ensure compliance with the statutory processes
  • To prepare cases to be written off including the completion of the tracing procedures for all streams of income when dealing with debtors who have absconded
