Role: DevOps engineer

Location: Manchester or Nottingham – Hybrid

Advantage Resourcing are recruiting for a Dev ops Engineer on behalf of a Smart meter telecommunications company. A successful candidate would be able to hit the ground running with experience with AWS cloud and Devops

Role

The purpose of the role is to provide Cloud expertise and DevOps cloud support for the business the business .

Key accountabilities

  • To be the subject matter expert DevOps engineer within the Enterprise IT Cloud Platforms Team.
  • Design assurance of service provider DevOps process, SDLC pipeline and high and low level designs in support of the the business’ ‘cloud first’ strategy.
  • Hands on deployment and support of the cloud hosted environments as required.
  • Delivering automation, patching, scripts and alerting configuration within the business the business s cloud environments.
  • Manage and maintain the business the business ‘s code pipeline and DevOps tooling.
  • To work with the business the business ‘s partners to translate solutions designs into infrastructure as code.
  • To run and assure the use of DevOps methodologies in support of the company’s cloud first’ strategy

Skills & Experience Essential

  • AWS certified solution architect associate certification (or similar level certification on MS Azure or Google public cloud platforms
  • Understanding and experience in using cloud platform propriety platform services and tooling including at a minimum
    • Networking concepts ( e.g VPCs, NACLs, Routing, ELBs, Direct Connect)
    • Compute, Storage (e.g S3, EFS, etc.)
    • Database Services (e.g RDS, DynamoDB, etc.)
    • Security roles, groups and policies
    • Lambda, CloudFormation, JSON, YAML, Shell scripts, PowerShell
    • Microservices and containerisation
    • Security – understanding best practices and how to secure cloud resources
    • CloudWatch, Config, CloudTrail, SNS, Log Aggregation concepts, backup
    • Expert level in Linux and Linux automation
    • Good working knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and Windows automation.
    • Guacamole Bastion servers.
  • Infrastructure and deployment automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins.
  • Using Source Control tools i.e. Git, AWS Code Commit.
  • Experience of using Azure DevOps and managing the SDLC pipeline.
  • Understanding of 3-tier architecture concepts and design.
  • Understands key technology risks / issues and mitigations.
  • Good knowledge of and adherence to security principles when deploying to cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge and experience of cloud well architected frameworks and adoption principles
  • Industry experience

  • Knowledge and experience of cloud Well Architected frameworks and adoption principles.
  • Good knowledge of the UK’s Smart metering solution and systems.
  • Good knowledge of SEC and the License Conditions, and solution compliance requirements.
