Information Governance Officer

3 months – Possible extension

£20 PH PAYE – Umbrella options available

Predominantly working from home with possible occasional to attend the office

* Experience of identifying data flows, particularly those outside of the EU

We are looking for an experienced Information Governance professional to join our busy IG Team working across Richmond and Wandsworth for a period of 3-6 months. This role will report to the IG Manager and work closely with the Senior Information Governance Officer and other members of the Information Governance Team. The role will also involve working with colleagues in the Information Security Team and the Directorate Information Governance Leads.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

* To support the Information Governance (IG) Manager and Deputy DPO in fulfilling the statutory role and responsibilities of the DPO.

* To use their expert knowledge to provide advice and act as one of the key contacts for data subjects, staff, senior managers (including the Deputy DPO, DPO and Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO),) elected boroughslors and the Information Commissioners Officer (ICO) on queries. Ensure responses are in line with legislative requirements.

* To provide specialist input and guidance in relation to Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs). Supporting staff across both boroughs in undertaking DPIA’s and making recommendations to the DPO in relation to sign off. Proactively identifying potential gaps or instances where DPIA’s need to be carried out.

* To provide specialist input and guidance in relation to Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs). Supporting staff across both borough’s in completing DSAs and making recommendations to the DPO in relation to sign off. Proactively identifying potential gaps or instances where DSAs need to be carried out.

* As part of the foregoing, and separately, to identify any international data flows (particularly outside of the EEA) and, where appropriate, work with colleagues to ensure any necessary mitigations are in place. Ensuring that any such data flows identified are reflected appropriately in Records of Processing Activities, Information Asset Registers etc.

* To provide support to the Senior Records Manager on the project she is leading to improve the organisation’s arrangements around the retention and deletion of electronic data.

* Dealing with individual information rights casework under the data protection legislation, as allocated by the IG Manager or Senior IG Officer.
