There is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant community mental health team and support the development of family interventions in the service. Family interventions have national support and recognition with HEE training for family interventions for psychosis.

Main duties of the job

We would like the post holder to support the development of a pathway for people with psychosis as well as supporting family work across the different pathways. This post will offer psychological assessments and interventions as well as support psychological and systemic thinking in the team and support family inclusive practice as well as offering a lead practitioner role for clients particularly for those with families involved.

Hastings & Rother Assessment and Treatment Service is a multi-disciplinary service for adults with complex mental health problems. Our work is challenging, but we receive regular positive feedback from our service users and carers.

Qualifications
Essential criteria

  • Recognised/ accredited postgraduate level training in a psychological therapy as specified in one of the appendices
  • Professionally registered as specified in the same appendix
  • Desirable criteria

  • Additional pre- and/ or post-qualification training as specified in the same appendix
  • Knowledge/ Experience
    Essential criteria

  • Substantial experience of specialist psychological therapy(assessment, formulation and treatment), as specified in same appendix maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the treat of physical abuse
  • Experience of offering teaching, training and supervision within a demanding organisational context.
  • A clear and theoretically informed approach to supervision
  • Experience of representing psychological therapy within the context of multi-disciplinary care within a complex organisational context
  • Significant experience of working with the particular client group served by the team/ service
  • Skills
    Essential criteria

  • Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues
  • Proven ability to establish, maintain and conclude therapeutic relationships with clients
  • Good inter-personal and inter-professional skills and ability to work autonomously as a single discipline practitioner in a multi-disciplinary setting
  • A capacity to reflect upon the therapeutic process and upon one’s own part in it
  • Ability to assist or take a lead in specific service development projects
  • Ability to supervise and support psychological therapies in the locality, undertaking appraisals and managing sickness and annual leave where appropriate
