Band 4 HCSW – Physiotherapy department

Aberdeen royal infirmary

37.5 hrs hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the acute physiotherapy team working with inpatients in the cardio respiratory service. The ideal candidate will be an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic HCSW with previous experience within a physiotherapy team.

The post holder will be working within cardiology and respiratory wards, to support the assessment and treatment of patients to facilitate early discharge from hospital. Where this is not possible the post holder will provide interventions to improve function. The post holder will also support the physiotherapy team to provide complex interventions to patients with critical and significant illness. There are other routine admin tasks to be undertaken.

The successful candidate will have previous experience working as a physiotherapy support worker. Experience working with breathless respiratory patients and discharge planning will be an advantage but support will be offered from the existing team.

This post will be part of a busy team and from time to time will be required to help in other areas of the physiotherapy service therefore a flexible and adaptable approach to work is essential.

Regular supervision and support will be offered as well as training opportunities as they are required. The acute physiotherapy department offers good educational and development opportunities.
