Associate Specialty Director in Palliative Care (unestablished) Part-time – Internal Applications only

The Primary Care Unit of the Department of Public Health and Primary Care within the School of Clinical Medicine is seeking to appoint a suitably-qualified doctor to support the Palliative Care teaching of medical students. We are looking for a medical colleague to join the Palliative Care teaching team of Professor Stephen Barclay (Professor of Palliative Care), Dr Anna Spathis (Assistant Professor of Palliative Care), Dr Annabel Price (Associate Speciality Director for Palliative Care teaching) and Alice Cuttriss (Palliative Care Teaching Administrator).

You will have current experience of clinical Palliative Care delivery for patients in hospital, hospice, care home or General Practice settings, with experience of medical student teaching and to participate in the delivery of the Cambridge Palliative Care course.

Overview of Role

Post holders will work with the teaching team in:

  • Contributing to delivery of the Palliative Care teaching of students on the Cambridge Standard Clinical Course and the Cambridge Graduate Course in Medicine.
  • Contributing to the planning and development of the Palliative Care course, with a particular focus on developing in-person simulation.
  • Participating in student assessment, including assessment of coursework and Final MB examinations.
  • Meeting continuing personal development needs in the education field.
  • Opportunities for educational research may also arise.
  • One post of 2 Consultant Programmed Activities per week.

    The funds for this post are available for two years in the first instance.

    The role is being offered as a secondment or on a fixed term basis dependent on specific circumstances and this will be discussed and confirmed as part of the selection process following interview and appointment.

    You will require GMC registration, Licence to Practice and Medical Defence Cover for the duration of your appointment.
