The opportunity has arisen as Advanced Specialist Echocardiographer, to become an integral part of a highly motivated and enthusiastic team in our Cardiology Department.

The postholder should be able to independently perform a range of highly specialised cardiac ultrasound investigations, including adult transthoracic, 3D and contrast echocardiograms, assisting with Stress & transoesphageal echocardiograms, performing accurate and reproducible measurements and quantification, interpret findings and independently confirm diagnostic reports, to a highly competent professional standard.

Successful candidates will have opportunity to develop further Echo and Managerial skills with protected CPD sessions every week. 

The successful applicant will also deputise for the Senior Chief Cardiac Physiologist covering managerial aspects of the role and will assist to organise the day-to-day clinical-technical services of the Cardiology diagnostic department.

The post holder should have relevant sufficient experience as Band 7 and possess a BSc Degree in Physiology or equivalent. RCCP registration and BSE Accreditation is mandatory. 

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week.

The Trust is currently offering a retention premium for this post (subject to annual review)

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will also deputise for the Senior Chief Cardiac Physiologist covering managerial aspects of the role and will assist to organise the day-to-day clinical-technical services of the Cardiology diagnostic department.

Other duties includes: 

  • Performing and reporting Standard and complex Adult Echocardiograms
  • Trainer and Mentor for Junior Echocardiographers
  • Performing quality assessment and audits of Echocardiography service
  • Staff management and appraisal for Junior Echocardiographers
  • The post holder should have relevant experience as Band 7 and possess a BSc Degree in Physiology or equivalent. RCCP registration and BSE Accreditation is mandatory. 

    This post is based at Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust however the post holder may be required to work at other sites as directed by the needs of the service.
