We are looking to recruit a Costing & Pricing Accountant within our Business Planning and Reporting Services team. The post holder will be responsible for developing the University’s approach to costing and pricing of all its activities in order to produce accurate financial information to aid strategic decision making and improve financial sustainability.

You will lead the development of an activity based costing model to provide detailed and robust course costing information, maintain and update existing costing and pricing methodologies and tools for application throughout the University, and promote a culture change throughout the University on costing, pricing and financial sustainability.

You will be responsible for the submission of the annual Transparent Approach to Costing (TRAC) return to the Office for Students

Typically, you will:

  • Be able to interpret and convey complex information (both orally and in writing) to a range of diverse audiences and liaise credibly and articulately with other professionals, with a high attention to detail.
  • Have excellent analytical and financial modelling skills, including the ability to explore, evaluate and interpret complex sets of information, draw conclusions, report and recommend potential solutions with practicable courses of action taking into consideration the wider impact of these solutions.
  • Ability to build relationships and establish networks with internal and external contacts, influencing others thinking and to negotiate in order to achieve the desired positive outcomes.
  • Ideal candidate:

  • Experience of working in a costing/ pricing role within an accounting environment of a large organisation, presenting detailed information in a formal manner to senior managers in both verbal and written formats.
  • Excellent technical accounting skills and a proven ability to apply them effectively.
  • Well-developed communication, presentation and relationship management skills including an ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain a calm approach under pressure and be able to work in a fast paced, high-pressured environment.
  • A qualified accountant, or qualified by experience.
