Ward Sister

An exciting opportunity has arisen at One Ashford Hospital for a highly motivated, dynamic and forward thinking qualified nurse to take up a Ward Sister post at our private hospital.

We are looking for a highly committed individual who is flexible and proactive.

At One Ashford Hospital we have a 20 bedded ward, specialising in elective surgery in orthopaedics, general surgery & gynaecology; treating both inpatients and day surgery.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Ward Sister to join our team of qualified nurses and healthcare assistants with a minimum of 2 years experience; Band 6 or equivalent is essential.

Hours: 37.5 per week, across a 7 day rotational shift pattern, covering days, nights and weekends.

Salary: Equivalent to NHS AfC pay scale, Band 6 – dependent on experience.

Ward Sister

• For this post you will need to have excellent communication skills and the ability to work proactively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

• As Ward Sister you will be expected to support the Ward Manager on a day to day basis implementing effective evidence based care and maintaining a high level of quality care for our patients and families.

• The post holder works under the overall supervision of the Ward Manager and will be required to undertake the duties and responsibilities of the post without direct supervision, which will include clinical leadership on the ward ensuring we are maintaining high clinical standards.

• There will be elements of staff and financial management. Active participation will be required in the training and education of learners allocated to the ward, and will encourage integration between the ward teams and the other hospital services.

• The successful Ward Sister must be able to deal with competing clinical and managerial priorities and be calm and compassionate in their care of our patients

• Demonstration of excellent leadership skills, undertake investigations when required with regards to Serious Incident and staff issues and the ability to delegate duties and address and resolve issues, as well being fully IT literate.

• Successful candidates must be compliant with all mandatory training, obtain a satisfactory Enhanced DBS Certificate and hold full registration with the NMC.

• Evidence of continued professional development is essential and ideally the preferred candidate will hold a mentorship qualification.
