Job Summary
Resourcing is a critical business function at KPMG. It ensures that our Client engagements have the right people, with the right skills, in the right locations, available at the right time. Resourcing ensures the effective utilisation and development of on and offshore resource. Its responsibilities range from workforce planning and headcount management to demand and supply management for client engagements.
The Resource Manager role is critical to drive robust resourcing processes across their Service Line ensuring strong business performance. Responsibilities range from demand and supply management for client engagements and internal requests, driving lending and borrowing, conflict resolution, MI analysis and insights and supporting individuals to have meaningful career progression and opportunities. Essentially driving productivity, efficiency and profitability for the UK firm
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Delivery & Management
Lead on the allocation of client facing staff to projects; drawing on robust negotiation skills to resolve conflicts and escalating issues when necessary
Influence key stakeholders on resource selection and strategic solutions to achieve maximum utilisation and effective skills / grade mix on projects including increased KGS and contractor usage
Drive fair work allocation to ensure equal opportunities across all employees to support career development
Build and maintain strong relationships with PLs, Heads of & COOs to support resourcing processes and advise on business decisions relating to the Direct Supply Chain
Influence engagement managers to ensure profitability is kept at the forefront of resourcing decisions, and succession planning is considered
Drive adoption and governance of resourcing processes
Attending the weekly operational meetings to further understand pipeline and flag any potential resourcing conflicts, challenges and successes to leadership
Lead Resource Management wide projects and initiatives.
Responsible for the Performance Management of Resource Advisors at all grades
Lead, develop and motivate staff taking full responsibility for individual and team performance management, coaching, development and communications.
Recruitment and selection of new team members as appropriate
Maintain strong links with the KPMG Resource Management community outside of Consulting (both UK and International) to build cross capability relationships to ensure we consistently apply best practice resource management methods and to maximise all opportunities to successfully and creatively resource projects with the relevant skills
MI & Reporting
Provide data insights to support leadership in making effective business decisions
Report on available resources, or those working on non chargeable activities, escalating issues where appropriate
Ensuring that Retain is accurate by working closely with off-shore Resource team
Analysis of weekly / monthly MI reports and work with the Lead Partner/s to manage issues / conflicts at leadership level to ensure decisions made are in line with the business goals
Demonstrate strong commercial awareness when reporting weekly to key stakeholders on MI such as forecast, actual utilisation and lending and borrowing rates, monitoring and investigating discrepancies between the data on a weekly / monthly basis and providing insight to the management team, highlighting any potential concerns of shortfall / over utilisation and any budget challenges
The individual
Proven Resourcing experience from Big 4 or mid teir Professional Services firm
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders and influence at a senior level
Ability to challenge, effective communication and decision making skills, thus being able to deal with conflicting priorities whilst achieving desired, commercial outcomes
People management experience, including effective resourcing, recruitment, training, and performance management
Ability to analyse management information and present compelling business recommendations
Proactive self-starter working autonomously to achieve business solutions
A track record in problem solving and innovation, process design and improvement
Project management skills
Client centricity and commitment to the delivery of a quality service
Strong commercial and financial analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, generate insights and reach sound business conclusions
