Entry Level Finance Officer

Are you looking to start a career in Finance? If so we have the perfect opportunity for you! We are currently looking for someone to join Devon & Cornwall and Dorset Police as a Finance Officer. This position is currently available until the end of the year but does have potential to lead to a permanent position for the right candidate.

You could be based at either Dorset HQ Winfrith (near Dorchester) or D&C HQ Middlemoor (Exeter)

You will perform central purchasing and exchequer activities with responsibility for sourcing goods and services along with dealing with security of seized monies.

Your duties will include:

  • Checking and processing all invoices received on to the financial system within specified timescales, including claims from the public

  • Administering receipts of goods inwards, including storage and distribution of necessary

  • Adding new suppliers to the procurement system

  • Raising sales invoices, monitoring and maintaining a record of all outstanding monies owed

  • Undertaking cash collections from localised facilities

  • Processing urgent payments

    • Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Good administrative skills with evidence of working to high standards of accuracy, preferably in a finance environment

  • Ability to deal with incoming correspondence, incoming payments by cheque, bank transfer, card or cash

  • Good computer skills

  • Confidence to interact in various forms with various external and internal customers
