Summary

A unique opportunity has arisen at Historic England and we seek an Enforcement Officer to help shape our enforcement capability by providing hands on assistance and advice to our officers in the prosecution of offences across England.

The role will work closely with individual officers across England providing protection to scheduled ancient monuments.

What you will be doing

The Enforcement Officer (Scheduled Monuments) will deliver and support effective investigation, remediation and prosecution where works to, or activities on, scheduled monuments are in breach of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act .or any other legislation or regulation that maybe in force at the time.

They will work closely with other colleagues in the Governance & Legal team, the Regional teams, Head of Development Advice and Head of Heritage Crime to achieve effective and consistent delivery where breaches of the Act have occurred.

What we are looking for

– Experience and knowledge of enforcement / prosecution legislation and procedure

– Experience in undertaking investigations and prosecutions

– Understanding of the public sector and enforcement processes in local authorities and/or other Government agencies

– Ability to advise and deal confidently with a wide range of people

– Knowledge of / ability to learn about scheduled monuments
