The cardio-respiratory department offers a full range of invasive and non-invasive tests, including ECG, ambulatory monitoring, exercise testing, pacemaker implant and follow up (brady and tachy devices), diagnostic angiography, and percutaneous coronary intervention and echocardiography (including stress and transoesophageal echocardiography).

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 7 cardiac physiologist specialising in echocardiography. The candidate should have BSE accreditation and experience performing transthoracic echocardiography, stress echocardiography and transoesophageal echocardiography. The department is committed to continuing professional development, with many staff undertaking post graduate and professional qualifications. 

Main duties of the job

The candidate will be expected to perform TTE unassisted for outpatients and inpatients. They should be able to work alongside our consultants to support the stress echocardiography service. It is also desirable for them to want to support development of a physiologist led service. They should be able to support our consultants with TOE.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent formal specialist training, plus knowledge of specialist procedures acquired through specialist courses or training/experience to advance level.
  • BSE TTE adult accreditation (holds or has previously held with CPD)
  • Experience

  • Appropriate post qualification experience and familiarity with the range of basic and advanced Cardiac and Respiratory investigations.
  • Desirable criteria

  • Supervisory experience.
  • Managerial experience.
