Senior Technical Architect

Whitehall Resources are currently looking for a Senior Technical Architect based in London for an initial 6 month contract.

* UMBRELLA COMPANY ONLY.*

Responsibilities:

– Provide top-down architectural definition for the clients Cerberus programme, which is delivering a mission-critical capability to help the UK’s Border Force to protect the country’s borders
– Work with key business and technical stakeholders to understand drivers and to refine architectural principles and capability requirements
– Clearly articulate the current, target and intermediate architectural states of the capability through delivery, ensuring that at each stage the Cerberus architecture is coherent, robust and meets stakeholder needs
– Provide guidance and advice to delivery architects and delivery teams on architectural intent and alignment with designs and specifications
– Work closely with other members of the Cerberus architecture team as well as the programme management and delivery teams to ensure that commissioned products and services align with the architectural intent
– Lead on taking major elements of the capability through the client’s technical governance process
– As part of the wider DSA Architecture Team, contribute to technical forums as well as contribute to wider architectural and technical advice for the client

– Cerberus Programme Lead, Border Force Cerberus Technical Lead, DSA Head of Architecture, DSA CTO

Skills & Experience:

– Experience of architecting complex multi-source data-centric or analytics solutions that process streamed data to provide timely insights to stakeholders
– Experience of architecting distributed, containerised solutions deployed to the cloud, ideally onto AWS
– Experience of container orchestration frameworks, especially Kubernetes
– Experience of architecting data integration, enrichment, matching and sharing solutions
– Experience of architecting integrated solutions with components provided by different delivery teams or suppliers
– Experience of system modelling using Sparx EA and ArchiMate, or similar tools and notations
– Experience of technical governance processes, both presenting material for review and reviewing designs from others
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills
– Facilitating, influencing and consulting skills, especially working across multiple client and supplier teams as well as working with seniors
– Agile delivery

Skills & Experience (highly desirable):

– Experience of risk scoring solutions using rule or ML models
– Practical knowledge of the borders domain, such as customs, travel, freight transport, visas/immigration etc, ideally in the UK context
– Alternatively, practical knowledge of digital investigations, eg for law enforcement, anti-fraud, or security would be useful
– Architecture Frameworks – eg IAF/TOGAF
