Main duties of the job

  • Lead a safe and effective specialist clinical pharmacy service to allocated area
  • Undertake professional and clinical pharmacists duties
  • Provides expert pharmaceutical advice and support within both primary and secondary care services as required.
  • Develop, encourage and promote evidence-based, cost effective use of medicines.
  • To be involved in the training of diploma, pre-registration and other pharmacists in area of speciality.
  • Assist in providing clinical training and supervision of pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • To be involved in the development and delivery of practice research, service and quality improvement
  • Develop policies, protocols and guidelines within allocated area. Work in partnership with service users, other health and social care colleagues, to achieve the optimum health outcome for service users.

    Essential criteria

  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Post Graduate MSc/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or Psychiatric Pharmacy or equivalent experience and/or qualifications
  • Must be able to demonstrate suitable level of experience working in the managed sector and/or community pharmacy
  • Demonstrate ability to influence and negotiate within a multidisciplinary team setting
  • Good communicator, motivated, able to lead and work as part of a team
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Participate in the provision of general public holiday and weekend pharmacy services as necessary.
  • Desirable criteria

  • Training qualification Leadership and/or management qualification
  • Experience in relevant clinical area
  • Evidence of successful management of people
  • Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner
