Security Cleared 2nd & 3rd Line Support Engineer/Consultant (AIX/SAN Storage/UNIX) is urgently required by our Global IT Services Company for an initial 5 months rolling contract, to be based remotely from home, UK. (UK Only).

Responsibilities & Skills:

  • The successful applicant will be an experience AIX Engineer, who specialises in the support and implementation of AIX in enterprise environments
  • Experience of supporting AIX infrastructure migration projects
  • Excellent client facing experience
  • 2nd Line AIX support experience
  • Able to work as part of a small team, within a larger operations organisation, your role will be to deliver support services and change to AIX platforms hosting IT services critical to the end customer.
  • Resolution of incidents and problems
  • Delivering infrastructure change and projects
  • The presentation and removal of SAN storage
  • You can expect to attain skills in new technologies to ensure continued growth of technical capability, with opportunities to work with all our operational teams (inc. Windows, Solaris/Linux, Storage and Backup teams) to enhance that learning.
  • Significant knowledge of AIX infrastructure & virtualization.
  • Experience of supporting (2nd to 3rd Line) IBM/AIX Servers and platforms within large scale and infrastructures (+ Servers).
  • UNIX Scripting skills
  • Technical leadership during projects and live service events.
  • Have a proven problem solving ability.
  • Awareness of the ITIL Service Management framework and specifically incident and change management.
  • HMC and Power hardware
  • AIX version 5.3, 6.1, 7.1, 7.2 software
  • PHA
  • VIO O/S
  • Firmware application (various versions)
  • EMC PowerPath
