Description:
The Migration Borders Technology Portfolio (MBTP) is building functionality to transform the way the Client manages immigration into the United Kingdom. The finished system will be used by Client’s staff based in the UK and in consulates across the globe, and by all applicants for Visa or Immigration services. The delivery framework envisages multiple application developers collaborating to deliver software components and being integrated by the Client. Multiple providers of commodity cloud services will provide hosting. The application developments will be delivered using an agile methodology in line with Government IT policy.

The candidate should have the following qualities and experience:

Must have:

Technologies – The must have requirements centre around the base technology platforms that we use to build all our infrastructure. Experience in:
AWS and Environment Design and Management – Cloud certification (AWS – associate architect, professional architect or one of the specialist certifications)
Review/identify performance improvements to IPT infrastructure environments
Identify and review any potential performance improvements/degradations in the forecasted use for each Release environment
Identify non-standard environment (namespace) and what performance improvements can be realised
Identify what new products and services on the AWS platform would be suitable to improve performance of the environments
Environment Management process
Identify any new environment processes that could lead to performance enhancements
Cloud Formation or Terraform
Nginx
Linux administration
Packer
Collaboration tools (Git, Jira, Confluence, etc)

*Note* the more senior the resource then the following become Must have’s:

Kubernetes
Docker
Hashicorp tools (Packer, Consul, Vault, etc)

Applications:

Working with the development teams identify and propose changes to application design to reduce costs, improve application performance and potentially migrate to another Cloud Provider
Identify and propose additional application monitoring metrics to track application performance

Skills:
Working within an agile context with the use of CI (continuous improvement)
Articulate a logical design, and understand how this translates to physical infrastructure
Experience with defining and working with the constraint of NFRs such as cost, scalability, availability
The must have skills will determine how well they will be able to integrate into our way of working and;
The principals we use when making strategic and long-term decisions

Nice to have:

Two weekly update as part of the Sprint Board reporting on Slack to Leslie Wastie (Capgemini EM)
Monthly to Capgemini team Lead for inclusion in Scorecard report
