The role:

  • Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented
  • Be aware of which contractors are on site on any day including weekends and inspect for compliance including correct PPE, Safety documents.
  • Raise concerns immediately with the Health and Safety Manager and Departmental Manager
  • Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports compiling suggested improvements
  • Deliver induction training to new starters and contractors and deliver additional training to existing colleagues
  • Assist Managers in carrying out risk assessments and advise on how risks could be reduced
  • Check for current safety data sheets and associated COSHH assessment for hazardous substances on site
  • Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards
  • Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation
  • Assist in the preparation of health and safety strategies
  • Deliver in-house training with managers and employees on relevant topics
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents and accidents ensuring that incidents and accidents are reported
  • Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer’s industry
  • Produce and deliver tool box talks
  • Assist in ensuring equipment is installed safely
  • Manage and organise the safe disposal of hazardous substances, e.g. asbestos
  • Provide advice on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases
  • Assist with development and delivery of health and safety communications
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested within skill set
  • You:

    Knowledge/Skills

  • Experience working in Health and Safety
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment desirable
  • Experience of working on a 24/7 shift operation would be an advantage
  • Qualifications/Training

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or working towards achieving this is essential
  • Understanding on COSHH is essential, In-depth knowledge would be an advantage
