About the role

We are excited to welcome an approachable, empathetic and knowledgeable Telephone Dementia Adviser to work on our Local Dementia Helpline based at our office in Horsham St Faith. The service comprises of Dementia Support Workers and Admiral Nurses working together to support people affected by dementia across Norfolk and Waveney, assessing their needs and identifying desired outcomes.

You will;

  • Be the first point of contact for people wishing to access the Norfolk and Waveney Dementia Support Service.
  • Deliver high quality information, advice and support, including emotional support.
  • Use your skills to work with individuals to assess immediate needs and wishes and identify further support requirements.
  • Use your initiative and sensitivity to find the best way to present and explain information.
  • Be able to transfer individuals for further support, both internally and externally, following service specifications.
  • Promote our amazing service with those that you have contact with.
  • About you

    You will have:

  • A solid and compassionate understanding of the needs of people affected by dementia.
  • Demonstrable skill and experience in delivering a support service to people via the telephone and email.
  • The ability to work inclusively, along with an understanding of the need for client confidentially.
  • Knowledge of working alongside volunteers and an understanding of the valuable contribution volunteers bring to services whilst championing their inclusion in all that we deliver.

  • Be able to work collaboratively with other team members if/when required.
