An opportunity has arisen for a School Health Assistant (SHA) working 20 hours per week (term time only), within the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) in Brighton and Hove.

Main duties of the job

The post will be based at Brighton General Hospital within the HCP school nursing team for the 5-19 age group. This job involves travel to all primary schools in the city.

The SHA role involves delivery of the screening programmes, this is the vision and hearing screening in Reception and the measurement of children in Reception and Year 6 classes as part of the National Child Measurement Programme.

You will need to have Maths and English GCSEs or equivalent qualifications. Basic IT skills are essential, although in-house training will be provided on our electronic record system. You will need to be a good communicator, well-organised, and able to travel between school and clinic locations in the city, carrying screening equipment.
