This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the medical therapy team which includes infectious and tropical diseases, respiratory, elderly medicine and clinical pharmacology.

The post holder is responsible for providing both clinical and administrative support to the qualified staff and works without direct supervision undertaking treatment plans delegated by a qualified therapist in order to progress the rehabilitation of patients.

The successful candidate will demonstrate compassion, initiative and excellent organisational ability and ideally having worked previously as a therapy assistant. They will work closely with qualified physiotherapists and occupational therapist to deliver excellent patient care.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder is responsible for and provide both clinical and administrative support to qualified staff:

  • The post-holder works without direct supervision, within the specified clinical area, undertaking tasks delegated by a qualified therapist
  • The post holder will be implementing and progressing agreed therapy treatment programmes for patients
  • The post holder shows initiative, motivation and excellent organisational ability working closely with therapy staff to develop administrative support and systems for the therapy team
  • The post-holder will be involved in the supervision and education of apprentice and assistant staff within the team
  • The post-holder provides cover for other therapy assistants and instructors across the service in periods of leave or absence

    Clinically the department is made up of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Support Staff, who are divided into small specialty therapy teams which join with similar specialties for education, training and service development. There are extensive opportunities for staff training with internal courses and funding for external courses. We support opportunities to showcase work at national and international conferences.
