Production Support Mechanical Technician Job Vacancy in Bridgend, Wales, UK
Sony UK Technology Centre
Role Overview:
As a Production Support Technician, your role is to ensure efficient daily running of the Sony UK Technology Centre test and assembly operations. You will need to have a strong mechanical technical ability, including the ability to read and understand Mechanical Engineering drawings and use your initiative to fault find. You will be required to use precision measuring equipment and testing equipment. You will also be able to implement and control process changes within your role. You will be joining a fast-paced, dynamic team working together to ensure the smooth running of all production lines throughout our operation. Key Responsibilities:
Carry out total productive maintenance procedures
Confident at fault finding and repairing a range of production/process equipment
Analysis of test data
Control and implementation of key process changes
Implementation of productive innovation ideas
Provide input during design for manufacture evaluations
Stock management for your department
Ensuring a safe, clean working environment and carrying out work in a safe manner ensuring safety standards are met
Person Specification:
Essential criteria
HNC or above in Mechanical Engineering or a Mechanical Technical discipline (or time served with experience)
Able to communicate at all levels throughout the business
Ability to make engineering and technical change decisions to improve quality, and efficiency to the benefit of the business
A strong Team Player with a positive attitude toward achieving schedules
Self-motivated and a strong sense of responsibility
Must be able to work shifts, an example pattern is: Week 1 – 05.45 to 14:00; Week 2 – 13:45 to 22:00; Week 3 – 21:45 to 06:00
Desirable criteria
Toolroom experience (using hand tools, pillar drills, millers and lathes)
An understanding of basic electrical engineering
Good aptitude for complex and technical operations
