Resource Advisor – Advisory

 

Job Summary

Resourcing is a critical business function at KPMG. It ensures that our Client engagements have the right people, with the right skills, in the right locations, available at the right time. Resourcing ensures the effective utilisation and development of on and offshore resource. Its responsibilities range from workforce planning and headcount management to demand and supply management for client engagements.

 

The Resource Advisor role drives resource management activity across a specific headcount, working with the business to make resourcing decisions to effectively deploy our client facing resources in order to meet the demand generated by the business.

 

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
 
Delivery & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage the allocation of client facing staff to projects; drawing on robust negotiation skills to resolve conflicts and escalating issues when necessary
  • Advise key stakeholders on resource selection to achieve maximum utilisation and effective skills / grade mix on projects including increased KGS usage.
  • Work with engagement managers to ensure profitability is kept at the forefront of resourcing decisions, and succession planning is taken into account
  • Deliver Resource Management projects and initiatives where appropriate to support the continuous improvement of the RM function
  • Attending the operational meetings and provide commentary on potential resourcing conflicts, challenges and successes
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with PLs and Partner within headcount, to support resourcing processes and feed back when required on performance management issues
  • Developing strong relationships across the wider resourcing community (UK and International); sharing resources across practices where appropriate
  • Work with the business to deliver fair work allocation to ensure equal opportunities across all employees to support career development
  • Promotion the use of KGS, Contractors and Member Firms to unlock capacity
  • Meet and greet new joiners to introduce Resource Management processes and understand their skills and career aspirations
  • Drive completion of mini bios and Profinda profiles to ensure we have accurate view of skills and experience across the workforce
  • Attend pipeline meetings to supporting the fulfilment of the roles with agreed team allocation maximising utilisation across the teams
  • MI & Reporting

  • Report on available resources, or those working on non chargeable activities, escalating issues where appropriate
  • Ensuring that Retain is accurate by working closely with the off-shore Resource team
  • Analysis of core MI reporting to aid resourcing decisions based on core MI (pipeline/resource availability, resource grade mix, capability and skill set requirements and utilisation)
  • Provide robust commentary to support weekly MI and for leadership team awareness.
