Corporate Responsibility Assistant Manager
Permanent, full-time – location: UK wide

The Role

Reporting to the Corporate Responsibility Senior Manager, the Assistant Manager is responsible for developing and delivering local and national education programmes, working closely with the Manager to reach targets to drive up firm-wide volunteering participation rates. Employee engagement is at the heart of this role: the individual will be a positive and persuasive advocate for Corporate Responsibility (CR) and will be able to garner support for the firm’s key education programmes, in order to meet our social mobility commitments.

The portfolio of education programmes focus on three key enablers of social mobility:

  • Responsibilities

    Responsible for the delivery of national flagship education programmes. Manage relationships with external partners; develop internal communications campaigns; recruit volunteers; manage events; engage senior internal stakeholders; measure and evaluate programme outcomes; project planning and redevelopment. Including:

  • Leading on the internal promotion of all essential skills and literacy focused volunteering programmes including The Skills Builder, WorkReady, TutorMate and Reading Partners.
  • Responsible for the day to day management of Education flagship programmes in social mobility coldspots, opportunity areas and high areas of deprivation. This includes managing the work related learning programmes, providing support to senior KPMG members who sit on the governing board and facilitating ad hoc requests such as pro bono
  • Manage relationships with external brokers including The Talent Foundry, TutorMate and Skills Builder.
  • Lead on delivering the suite of education programmes across regional offices, with a focus on social mobility cold spot areas.
  • Support a network of volunteer school champions in order to encourage greater volunteer recruitment and engagement, providing quarterly team meetings, regular support, direction, communications, reports, and share best practice.
  • Evaluate and monitor all aspects of the education programmes, responsible for Community Investment data collection from across KPMG monthly, quarterly and annually as part of annual assurance process.
  • Represent Corporate Responsibility at awareness-raising events (, inductions, networking events, team meetings, office cascades etc.), informing colleagues about the range of CR opportunities available.
  • Act as an advocate by telling the CR story in a persuasive and engaging manner.
  • Look after the DBS (and PVG in Scotland) process for volunteers looking to work with underage students on long term volunteering programmes.
  • Develop strong internal relationships and networks with a view to driving up employee volunteering.
  • Support both the senior manager and manager with leadership briefings and briefings for key education meetings throughout the year
  • Support write up of awards entries for our work across the Education and Social Mobility space.
  • Produce targeted communications.
  • Account management of local office CR forum(s).
  • Ad hoc projects as required.
  • The Individual

  • Demonstrable experience of working in CR, ideally experience of developing and running education projects and / or experience of education.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills; ability to juggle several complex projects simultaneously.
  • Proven communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to persuasively engage employees in CR.
  • Experience of data management and analysis.
  • Target driven with a passion for action and results.
  • Experience of evaluating community investment programmes desirable.
