Pharmacy technicians are registered professions who are vital members of both the pharmacy and NHS Healthcare team whether in hospitals, community pharmacies or GP practices. The role of the pharmacy technician is becoming more varied and complex as medicines become increasingly sophisticated and the role of the pharmacist evolves. As a result of this, the aim of our training programme is to deliver pharmacy technicians who have the necessary skills and knowledge to practice in a 21st century NHS. Were looking to recruit a motivated and committed trainee pharmacy technician(s) to undertake a 2 year Technical Apprenticeship programme during which you will work towards the Diploma in Pharmacy Services. This includes completing the PDA in Pharmacy Services (SCQF 7) and SVQ in Pharmacy Services (SCQF 8) while developing your knowledge skills within our pharmacy team. Your base will be Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary where you will complete 2 days training and then a Primary Care setting ( can you indicate which locality would be your preference either Dumfries and upper Nithsdale, Stewartry or Annandale and Eskdale) where you will complete a further 2 days training, you will also be allocated a day for study. This post will be paid as an annexe 21 Band 4 On completion of the programme you will be eligible to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician and progress into a range of opportunities within the profession.

  • National 5 qualifications at Grade A to C (or equivalent SCQF Level) in Chemistry, Biology, Maths and English
