Midwifery is ever-evolving, with a continued emphasis on providing high quality, safe care to all women accessing our services, across multiple sites . Crucial to supporting all practitioners is the provision of support and education within the clinical areas alongside a training programme that encompasses all aspects of evidence based practices and is in line with national drivers.

The Practice Development Midwife has a key role in the delivery of this agenda working as part of the multi-disciplinary team in the ongoing development of services. 

We are delighted to offer this exciting role on a year long secondment within our senior midwifery team, based at our Scarborough site and welcome applications from proactive and dynamic midwives with a passion for the delivery of high quality care.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this role is to promote a clinical practice environment which values the education and development of all midwifery team members, from Healthcare Support Workers Band 8 staff. Ensuring that continuing personal, professional and practice development is an active process, and that high quality midwifery care is delivered in line with current evidence based practice.

Key to the success of this role will be the maintenance of relationships both within the maternity services and other Trust departments, as well as with external stakeholders.

The post holder will be a professional role model, who will lead and manage educational and/or practice development activities for staff within the maternity unit. Acting as a clinical expert within the Trust, sharing specialist skills and knowledge to others.
