Job Title: Regional Director
Location: Manchester City Centre
Salary: £90,000 – £95,000 (plus benefits & bonus)
An ever growing national consultancy have identified a strategic requirement for a Regional Director to join their Northern team. You’d be based in Central Manchester, having direct control of the established, multi-disciplinary team.
Your core responsibilities will be to establish, develop and deliver Public and Private realm schemes with a large focus on Highways & Traffic engineering. You will inherit several key clients and frameworks that you will be responsible for delivering to and growing the scope of work for the consultancy.
You’ll have full reign on the recruitment and growth of the team in Manchester and Edinburgh, working with senior members of the team to ascertain key hires and ensure that they continue to grow sustainably.
This consultancy can offer you the support, the already established team and pre-existing client bases for you to excel in this role, give you freedom to take the team in a direction you want to and build new client relationships.
Key Accountabilities as a Regional Director
In collaboration with the Director or Operations, develop and implement strategic and regional business plans;
Promote the professional services offered by Project Centre to clients and framework managers within the region, and work together with other directors and account managers to diversify the Client and service share, develop new business opportunities and long-term partnerships;
Contribute to the effective development and management of annual budgets and ensure compliance with the business unit’s financial and performance targets and indicators through the effective monitoring and leadership of people and projects;
Maintain and improve financial performance (chargeable hours, margins etc) and comply with financial metrics including sales targets, invoicing schedules, WIP and AR
Identify and manage project resources within and across the business unit, including the supervision and development of multidisciplinary and multi-location teams to ensure customer satisfaction;
Ensure individuals and teams operate in compliance with relevant industry legislation and design standards, and internal quality management systems and procedures and ensure fit for purpose processes are in place to support regional service delivery;
Provide analysis, advice and support to resolve problems and enhance business and operational performance
Demonstrate exceptional leadership and direction to ensure the maintenance of professional standards and high levels of motivation and commitment
Provide interdisciplinary coordination, determine project needs, and participate in inter-office coordination with other stakeholders and project teams;
Consistently demonstrate the behaviours expected of a senior professional, guide others and ensure the values and culture of Project Centre is embedded within the business unit;
Contribute to regional and national level forums within the service and sector areas, develop and maintain professional networks;
Build a service delivery team for today and tomorrow, and one that is highly motivated in looking after the clients and Project Centre’s interests
Lead and facilitate delivery of training, development and succession plans for professional services, including CDM, Heath, Safety, Environment, Welfare and Wellbeing
Prepare and lead the production of high quality, efficient and successful, competitive project proposals, provide technical and commercial input to strategic bids and support the development of marketing material
Maintain personal development activities and records associated with the technical and professional built environment and guide others in advancing routes to technical accreditation and profession membership
Delivery of financial targets (chargeable hours, invoicing levels, billing, margins etc)
Demonstrate exceptional leadership and direction to ensure the maintenance of professional standards and high levels of motivation and commitment.
Build a management team that is highly motivated in looking after clients and Project Centre’s interests.
Formulate training, development and succession plans.
Support the production of tender documents, communications and marketing material.
Relevant Attributes and Competencies

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent;
Chartered Status with a recognised professional Institution (ICE, CIHT or equivalent)
15 years’ experience delivering relevant technical services within the Built Environment;
Knowledge and experience operating within a matrix model;
Demonstrable experience developing and leading opportunity pursuits, business development and account management and experience developing lasting Client relationships;
Knowledge and experience of effective people leadership initiatives including Equality, Inclusion and Diversification
Demonstrable experience of programme and project management including experience of value and change management;
Knowledge and experience of financial management for significant project and programme values
Knowledge and experience of relevant industry wide technical design standards, legislation, codes, specifications and contracts including NEC
Knowledge and experience managing large teams and significant budgets at senior level
