Connex Education has an exciting opportunity for a qualified teacher who specialises or has a passion for working one to one, ideally with students who have additional needs. This student does not have a school placement for September so tuition will take place in the young person’s home. The student will be moving into year 9 however is working at a much lower academic level. The student is non-ambulant and a wheelchair user who has a diagnosis of cerebral palsy. The tuition will be mainly focusing on the development of gross motor skills and speech and communication skills.  There is an updated educational health care plan (EHCP) available to be reviewed prior to tuition commencing. 

You will be required to:

  • Build an excellent rapport with both the pupils and their families
  • De-escalate sometimes challenging situations
  • Create a calm and positive learning environment
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP)
  • Complete a home tuition report after sessions that outlines progress of the student

Location: Harborne, Birmingham.

Placement Type: Long term / Permanent

Working hours: Three hours per day (full time options available)

Start date: September 2022

 Experience/ Requirements:

  • QTS / QTLS
  • Minimum 6 months experience teaching within a special school or exceptional experience within a mainstream setting working one to one
  • Driving license (Preferred)
  • Up to date Safeguarding certificate (To be completed through Connex Education Partnership)
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or prepared to apply for a new one
