The laboratory of Professor Susan Ozanne () is seeking a full time senior biomedical technician. Our main research interest is in understanding how obesity and impaired glucose tolerance during pregnancy impacts on offspring cardio-metabolic health. We are particularly interested in establishing intervention strategies in the mother that improve both maternal and offspring cardiovascular and metabolic health. This post will provide support to a study addressing the effects of interventions that are used to treat gestational diabetes.

Key responsibilities:

Applicants should have a background in working in labs as part of a team carrying out in vivo physiological and molecular studies and will have the following responsibilities:

  • Perform histology, cell culture, immunoassays, western blotting, RT-PCR, histology and other techniques according to the direction of the project
  • Assist with rodent colony management
  • Train new members of the laboratory in laboratory procedures and routine experimental techniques
  • Maintain and update laboratory records
  • Assist other members of the research team to carry out rodent cardiometabolic phenotyping
  • Monitor laboratory resources and place orders

    This position is based at the Wellcome Trust-MRC Institute of Metabolic Science () at the University of Cambridge, which provides a highly collaborative and stimulating environment.
