Job Title: Lead Pitch Designer

Report to: Head of Design

Salary: Up to £90k +1% Comms

Location: City of London

Job Summary:

As a Creative Lead, you will be responsible for producing detailed design solutions on our highest profile design projects. These designs should meet both the client and the practice’s objectives and expectations. You will be involved in the whole process from taking the clients brief and pitching through to the completion of the project on site.

Excellent pitching skills are a must and the ability to really engage with clients and nurture that relationship throughout the process is key to repeat business and our reputation. You will need to be commercially minded and have the ability to design within a budget and to tight time scales.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Attending first appointments and creating a positive first impression.
  • Accurately taking the client’s brief.
  • Completing architectural site surveys and building analysis.
  • Creating well considered and innovative space plans for the chosen building(s).
  • Developing concept designs for the client, taking the client brief, brand identity, budget and project timescales into consideration.
  • Working and communicating well with the wider project team, including (but not exclusive to): project directors, creatives, technical designers, graphic artists, realtime artists, pre-contract managers, technical services directors, furniture and sub-contractors.
  • Maintaining project timescales and achieving deadlines as established in the ‘Kick Off’ meeting.
  • Producing relevant storyboards, drawing, sketches, text and data for the pitch proposal.
  • Expertly presenting your designs work to the client.
  • Successfully working with the client team to bring the concept design to life by selecting all finishes, agreeing layouts and design details.
  • Managing how design changes are communicated with the wider team.
  • Designing to building control regulations and designing out any risks (for construction, occupancy and future maintenance).
  • Maintaining our company Carbon Emissions Strategies by specifying products with a low environmental impact and promoting sustainable procurement.
  • Overseeing and checking the production of the technical design information.
  • Assessing, updating and maintaining all relevant design documentation, including (but not exclusive to): Design Tracker, Risk Registers, Issues Sheets and Finishes Schedules.
  • Attending project meetings and regularly checking that the works onsite comply with the signed off design.
  • Completing comprehensive snagging at the end of a project.
  • Overseeing the production of the As Built drawing packs and O&M information relating to your design.
  • Contributing to the development of the studio work practices, improving team pipelines, workflows and developing your knowledge of the latest workplace practices and products to ensure we are ‘Best-in-class’.
