The role:

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Crime Bureau for the ideal candidates to become Police Tele Investigators / Crime Recording Operators. Working within the Crime Bureau you will be responsible for speaking to members of the public who are contacting the force, through the 999-emergency number and the 101 non-emergency number, emails, online reporting, and now through our social media platforms.

 

As a Police Tele Investigator / Crime Recording Operator you will be taking reports directly from victims of crime and completing a thorough tele investigation.

 

You will be responsible for identifying lines of enquiry on investigations, completing risk assessments, and initiating safeguarding. You will also be quality assuring crime reports that have been completed by Police Officers and other members of Police staff for data quality along with other administrative functions.

The post holder will be required to work variable shifts. Shifts – This is a 24 hour, 7 days a week, 365 days a year business further details on available shift patterns will be provided

Although the post holder will not be required to travel around the county as part of their day-to-day role; they may occasionally need to travel between sites across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire to ensure business continuity, and to attend meetings or training.

Candidates will need to have excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills, along with diverse life experiences and resilience.

 

This is a challenging role which requires high levels of professionalism working within our Code of Ethics. You will have the ability to work under pressure, whilst making logical and appropriate risk-based decisions.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual, who has an inquisitive mindset, along with a passion for helping others whilst delivering a high level of service, making a positive contribution to the community.  

 

You will be required to attend an intensive training course to provide you with the technical skills required to perform this role. 

 

If successful, you will be required to undertake a Police Vetting Procedure.
