We are seeking an experienced Corporate Tax Lawyer to join the firm.  This role is flexible in terms of location and home working.  However, we have offices in  Bristol, Newcastle, Leeds, Southampton, London, Plymouth and Edinburgh, so the ability to travel to one of our locations to assist with your integration into the firm would be beneficial.

Working within a Chambers ranked practice with both Partner Jeremy Smith (who advises a range of clients, both in the public and private sector) and Managing Associate Ronan Lowney (who has considerable experience in advising on the structuring and negotiation of transactions in energy (both renewable and oil & gas), private equity, mergers and acquisitions, finance and real estate).  You’ll also work closely with both our wider Corporate team and our Private Client Tax lawyers.

The team provide high-quality advice and commercial solutions for clients on the tax issues that affect them, their owners and the transactions they undertake.  They have substantial tax knowledge with strong and recognised sector insight. Examples of the types of work the team advise on include:

  • Corporate mergers and acquisitions 
  • Private equity acquisitions, investments and disposals, along with portfolio company incentive schemes and funding rounds
  • Property purchases and sales (including property holding vehicles)
  • Advising on tax aspects of large scale energy projects such as offshore wind development, North Sea oil & gas projects and energy transition
  • Advising international clients on investment and activities in the UK (predominantly US, German and Scandinavian)
  • Property developments and regeneration
  • Corporate restructurings (including demergers)
  • Employee termination packages
  • Employee incentive arrangements, including cash bonus schemes and share incentive arrangements (tax-advantaged, long term incentive schemes, etc).

Working closely with a number of teams and lawyers across the business and international network, this role offers opportunities to use and further develop a wide range of skills and experience.  Ideally, you will hold an existing CTA qualification and be adaptable and able to deal with complex work from multiple channels.  Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills are also essential.
