LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANTS (Temporary)
Contract: 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time plus 5 training days)
Temporary until 31st August 2023.
Salary: S3 £18,887 (Pro rata)

As part of our continuing commitment to ensure the success of all learners within our school community, this large secondary Academy seeks dedicated individuals to work one to one or with small groups.

You will spend most of your time in our classrooms, working 1:1 or with small groups of students with special educational needs or disabilities, although wider tasks within our Inclusion team are expected and encouraged. Your key role is to support our teaching staff in the development, progress, and wellbeing of students.

Working as a Learning Support Assistant can be demanding, and you will need some key skills and personal qualities to succeed. You will need to be able to demonstrate a real affinity for working and communicating with young people, a cheerful and positive attitude, and the resilience to bounce back after a tough day. You will need to have a calm but firm approach, and be unflustered under pressure. You must have achieved 5 GCSE passes at grades 5-9 including English and Maths, or equivalent.

This post is an ideal first step if you are wanting to pursue a career working with young people, including those considering a career in teaching. Applications are also welcomed from individuals returning to the workplace or from other professions who can bring key transferable skills that can have a positive impact on our students.
