An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Product Development Team at OCR. We create general qualifications (GQ’s) that offer the best possible assessment experience for both teachers and students, and we are looking for a Senior GQ Product Designer to join our existing team. 

Within our team we develop or redevelop GCSE, AS or A Level qualifications (GQ’s) that are attractive to customers and are high quality. We keep our qualifications under continuous review, and you will be leading on, and overseeing the work of the GQ Product Designers, to develop new, or make improvements to existing qualifications working to a brief. You will need to apply design principles to: define requirements, analyse and scope out options, consider market research data, test proposals with customers, consider what support packages may be needed, and what the general delivery requirements might be. As part of future thinking, you will also work with the team to explore how we can continuously improve our qualification documentation and processes.

Given that OCR offers a range of general qualifications, the Senior GQ Product Designer role offers variety and the opportunity to collaborate widely across the business. 

 What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading and delivering the design of new qualification products.
  • Making updates and improvements to existing qualification products.
  • Collaborating with staff and teams across OCR to gather knowledge and information that will help inform the design options available.
  • Reviewing customer feedback on existing products or new design proposals.
  • Making sure the qualifications you and the Product Designers develop or update meet regulatory, technical, teacher, and other stakeholders’ requirements,
  • Making sure the new or updated qualifications are cost effective to deliver.
  • Contributing to work being carried out by the team exploring how we can improve our existing product documentation and processes.
  • Line managing the GQ Product Designer team.
  • Working with the Head of GQ Product Development who will support you in your role.

    Qualification:

  • Degree or equivalent
  • Essential skills/experience:

  • experience of working in the education or assessment sector
  • can interpret requirements and use a range of data and information to create or improve a product and/or process 
  • excellent attention to detail
  • experience of working effectively with colleagues in a range of different subject areas and at a range of levels of seniority
  • experience of working with teaching or assessment documents
  • Desirable skills/experience:

  • experience of developing/designing assessments within a regulated environment
  • experience of working with UK regulators and an understanding of compliance and the implications
  • an understanding of the markets in which OCR operates
  • line management or staff mentoring experience
