What you will do

Leading a small team, the Technical Analysis Lead will need to have a holistic view of the entire Academic Technology portfolio and maintain a clear sense of the customer and business needs as we juggle a range of initiatives. As the Technical Analysis Lead, you will ensure this key function drives requirements and prioritisation of development for platform services in support of Academic business and product goals, working closely with business stakeholders and the front-end Product Owners in the Academic Customer Experience team. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Management and leadership of a team of Technical Product Owners and Technical Analysts who provide key technical support to the business and technical teams
  • Accountability for the creation and maintenance of roadmaps for Academic Platform components
  • Research into emerging tech, data and competitor insights, sharing that research with Technology and business stakeholders
  • Acting as a Technical Product Owner for one or more development teams, engaging day to day with definition of requirements and ticket refinement, backlog management and sprint planning, and providing support in stand ups and other team meetings
  • About you

    You will have a strong analysis background in a technical field, comfortable navigating complex data flows and adept at establishing robust and innovative solutions with optimal commercial, effective and delightful outcomes to meet the needs of external and internal customers. You will be highly collaborative, engaging equally with technical engineering colleagues and non-technical business stakeholders. You will have excellent communication skills, being able to articulate complex technical challenges in a way that is easily understood and ensuring that business requirements and priorities are accurately captured and conveyed. You will have experience working with Agile development teams and be comfortable in an environment where there are competing priorities and numerous cross-functional dependencies. The ideal candidate would have some experience or demonstrable interest in Academic publishing and will have a good understanding of what it takes to be a compassionate line manager with a passion for people development. You will be a visible representative and champion of your staff and the platform development teams, sensitive to the challenges of working across multiple locations.
