The role:

We are looking for a Global Health and Safety professional to join our Facilities team at ICON.

This is a newly created role with the responsibility of developing and implementing the Global Health and Safety strategy and road map, ensuring delivery and compliance within each country. You will be the leading the programme, tracking progress and driving continuous improvement.

The primary role of the Senior Health & Safety Lead is to advise the Directors and Managers and Global H&S Committee on all safety, health and welfare matters to ensure the Company complies with its statutory obligations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Understanding the application of the Health and Safety at Work laws for each country.

  • Keeping up to date with changes in legislation, and ensuring updates to our Health & Safety policies.

  • Implementation and ownership of the Health and Safety Management System, updating the systems and policies as the business requires.

  • As part of the Management System ensure that all Risk Assessments as required by legislation are conducted and reviewed at relevant intervals and to maintain records of the same.

  • Arranging and instructing all Employee Health & Safety Training.

  • Designing and implementing an annual Health & Safety improvement plan and actively promote to all ICON employees.

  • Ensuring Health & Safety performance is monitored to meet ICON’s compliance standards.

  • Ensuring Health & Safety responsibility is assigned and accepted at all levels in the business, specifically the appointment of Health and Safety Team Leader, Local Health and Safety Officers, Fire Wardens and First Aiders. Ensuring there is a fire/emergency plan at each location with adequate evacuations/rehearsals.

  • Ensuring any non-compliance is rectified and documented to ensure full compliance. Carrying out investigations into all accidents and near-miss incidents and to record the findings on the relevant standardized forms.

  • You will need:

  • Formal professional Health and Safety qualifications – IOSH and/or COSHH

  • Demonstrable experience in the implementation of new Global Health and Safety standards and procedures within large office environments. With a clear understanding and appreciation of how Health and Safety works differently in each country.

  • Experience with Cardinus (or similar H&S training system) and Cornerstone (or similar HR training platforms)

  • Strong leadership and programme management skills

  • Strong stakeholder management and presentation skills – with the ability to flex style at all levels of the business.

  • The ability to travel with a global remit (20% travel)
