Chichester College Group has an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Teacher of Sociology, working at our Worthing campus. You will join us on a part-time, permanent basis (29.6 hours per week, 52 weeks per year). In return, we will offer a competitive salary of Pro-rata of £21,511 – £37,761 per annum (i.e. £17,208.80 – £30,208.80 ).

The Teacher of Sociology role:

This is an opportunity to join a growing & highly popular department that delivers A Levels in Sociology & Psychology, BTEC Applied Psychology & WJEC Criminology. 

You will teach A Level Sociology & potentially contribute to other courses. Preferences would be explored further during the interview.

Key Responsibilities of our Teacher of Sociology:

  • Undertaking teaching and learning related activities, including tutoring, as agreed
  • Ensuring that appropriate learning materials are prepared and assessments and assignments are undertaken in a timely manner
  • Undertaking administration and providing reports and statistics regarding student and teaching matters
  • Contributing to the development of curricula and learning activities, taking into consideration literacy and numeracy development, and equality and diversity
  • Understanding personal responsibilities in relation to Safeguarding
  • Keeping up-to-date with current issues, changes, and policies relating to the educational sector
  • Adopting a proactive approach to participation in appropriate meetings and training, as agreed with the curriculum area
  • To undertake the delivery of literacy and numeracy.
  • Our ideal Teacher of Sociology should have the below skills and experience:

  • Experience Teaching A Level Sociology
  • Working knowledge of Sociology
  • An understanding of safeguarding vulnerable groups
  • A Level 3 (or equivalent) in a related subject
  • The ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people at all levels, verbally and in writing
  • The ability to obtain an appropriate teaching qualification as defined by the Corporation
  • The capability to obtain ATLS or QTLS as required
