Guys and St Thomas is among the UKs busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity available for secondment for one year to cover maternity leave, to join the theatre team in the pain procedure room at the pain management centre. The post holders will work as a member of the pain multi-disciplinary team co-coordinating the pain theatre list, recovery of patients and will be trained to support pain procedures. Essential to this post is the maintenance of clinical excellence and theatre /pain experience underpinned by evidence based practice. You will be expected to provide professional advice and support to other health care professionals to provide a patient-centred seamless service. 

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the delivering care within a day care procedure room providing nursing support to the medical team in delivery of pain management interventions. Ensuring patients are treated with respect and dignity, also delivery high standards of nursing care.

Excellent communication and team working skills are essential as this post requires an appreciation of the complex issues facing patients with chronic pain; previous theatre experience/recovery is also essential and an ability to show initiative and understanding in providing support and care for these patients.
