About the role:

The Department of Social Care and Social Work offers a range of programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. These include programmes leading to registration with Social Work England (SWE), and a programmes in integrated health and social care. Our research and knowledge exchange focuses on social work education, learning disabilities, ageing, mental health, education and policy and underpins our departmental core values of evidence-based practice and working with people with lived experience. Our academics use research to deliver teaching that is at the forefront of the health and social care sector, ensuring that our students can confidently overcome the challenges of everyday practice.

Located in the Faculty of Health and Education, the Department of Social Care and Social Work is ranked in the top 5 universities for Social Work in the UK*. We have won and been shortlisted for teaching awards celebrating the very best in social work and social care education. Many of our teaching team are recognised and respected both regionally and nationally for their contributions.

About the candidate:

The successful applicants will contribute to our curricula and the enhancement of student experience, whilst actively participating in departmental activities. They will be required to teach on units across our undergraduate and postgraduate provision and to support inter-professional teaching across the Faculty. They will be required to work closely with a range of academics, researchers and other professionals across the wider health and social care sector.

The ideal candidates must demonstrate excellent oral and written competencies and interpersonal skills. They should be currently be on the Social Work England register and have a minimum of a Masters degree, and for Senior Lecturers, ideally a doctoral level qualification or equivalent, along with a relevant research profile. They should have teaching experience and significant experience in statutory children’s social work.
