Job Title: Hybrid Production Operator

Location: Sandwich, Kent

Salary: £24, + Overtime

Hours: 4 on 6am-6pm / 4 off / 4 on 6pm-6am / 4 off

Job Purpose:

The Production Operator is a multi-skilled individual, they will be working with heavy machinery on the factory floor with computer-controlled equipment or more mechanically based machines to make sure they are set up properly, working well, and producing high quality products in a safe environment.

  • Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:

  • Set up production equipment and supplies before executive job orders.
  • Operate equipment safely and effectively for production processing.
  • Ensure that equipment is maintained, with the help of the engineering department, in good and safe working conditions.
  • Inspect equipment to identify any replacements, malfunctions and repairs.
  • Perform regular equipment maintenance, with the help of the engineering department, to ensure production capacity and quality.
  • Provide assistance to junior operators in their assigned responsibilities.
  • Work under the guidance of the Team Leader to perform and complete the assigned duties in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate equipment performance and recommend improvements.
  • Perform visual quality checks on all products made and record machine data on a verification sheet, addressing any anomalies.
  • Carry our strip and cleans on all compounding lines.
  • Operate forklift trucks and other industrial vehicles to transfer raw material and finished goods around the work area.
  • Follow safety procedures and company policies for equipment operation.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhanced operational efficiency and safety.
  • Contribute to waste management programs.
  • Identify and report unsafe operations to the Team Leader.
  • Maintain the work area, ensuring it is clean, safe and organised.
  • Perform quality testing on manufactured compounds (made in the factory and by the R&D department)
  • Document test results and findings.
  • Identify non-conforming materials and segregate.
  • Communicate testing status and results to the Team Leader, Process Engineers and QA Officer.
  • Experience and skills required for this position:

  • Product or industry knowledge, ideal not essential.
  • Experience within quality or product testing, ideal not essential.
  • Experience within a manufacturing background.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Motivational skills and someone that is keen to learn.
  • Someone that is results-orientated.
  • Working knowledge of Excel.
