What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Head of SHWEQ, the post-holder will assist in the continual improvement of Safety Health Environmental and Wellbeing across Stonbury Ltd by providing advice and guidance to the business. You will live and breathe our Core Values. Duties and Responsibilities – Supporting the Head of SHWEQ as a deputy – Providing line management support to SHWEQ Advisors – Being a source of competent advice in a team – Providing professional and authoritative SHWEQ services and advice, combined with expert advice in specialist subject areas, to functional teams with a heavy bias on construction activitie – Reducing business risk through effective advice on the implementation of policies in business units – Supporting the development of a health and safety culture throughout the business – Incident investigation – Management system auditing – Site, depot and office inspections – Contractor audits, review and approvals – Bid (tendering for work) support – Undertake SHWEQ mentoring and coaching of site personnel – Deliver specified briefings, toolbox talks and in-house training in support of Stonbury’s SHWEQ goals – Maintain and promote the Stonbury brand and live our Core Values – Undertake SHWEQ improvement projects – Client meetings Who we’re looking for

While attitude is more important to us than qualifications you should have a NEBOSH Diploma or Construction Certificate as a minimum, coupled with a good general standard of education. As you will be writing and reviewing audits and reports, you will need the ability to present information in a professional manner and possess a enhanced attention to detail.

Essential

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must hold membership of IOSH, or equivalent, CMIOSH preferred, or the ability to gain it within 6 months of joining

We are looking for someone with excellent communications skills, who is approachable and helpful, a forward thinking innovator who is not afraid to challenge the status quo, who seeks to demystify complex rules and procedures, and who genuinely wants to help our people to do a good job in a safe environment that also enhances their wellbeing.

What we most definitely don’t want is a clipboard-holding ‘legislation quoter’ who turns up on site, chucks the proverbial hand grenade, and gallops off into the sunset having stopped the job and left everyone angry and confused. In short we are seeking an inspirational safety leader.

We are looking for someone can hit the ground running and has a real passion for challenging the status-quo and making improvements.
What we’re offering

UK wide travel and some overnighters will be part of the job. You will be expected to manage your own diary with a high degree of autonomy.
